Romans 3:1-8
In this sermon on Romans 3:1–8, Pastor Blaine explains Paul’s back-and-forth with imagined critics, showing that while being Jewish brought real advantages—chiefly being entrusted with God’s Word—it was never salvific. Even when many were unfaithful, God remains faithful, as seen in the covenant with Abraham and the example of David’s repentance. Paul addresses slander that his gospel of grace encourages sin, insisting instead that God is just to judge, and salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. The message highlights the heart of the gospel: Jesus is our substitute who bore God’s wrath, so that His righteousness might be given to us, calling believers to repent, trust Christ fully, and live with changed hearts in gratitude for His sacrifice.
