Romans 2:1
In this sermon on Romans 2:1, Pastor Blaine addresses the universal tendency to judge others while ignoring our own sin. Paul warns that when we judge, we expose ourselves to the very same standard we impose on others, revealing our guilt before God. Blaine explains the difference between sinful judgment—marked by hypocrisy, arrogance, favoritism, and self-righteousness—and righteous judgment, which lovingly calls sin what it is, confronts with humility, and points people to Christ. Drawing from Matthew 7, Galatians 6, and Nathan’s confrontation of David, he reminds us that we must first deal honestly with our own sin, then speak truth with gentleness. Christians are called to avoid acting as if they are God while also refusing to stay silent about sin; instead, we proclaim the gospel with humility, courage, and conviction, as sinners saved by grace pointing others to the same Savior.
