“Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying,
yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.”
II Cor. 4:16
Purpose Statement:
The focus of all Senior Ministries is to foster an atmosphere that encourages spiritual growth, warm fellowship and provides opportunity for service with the Family of God that worships at Eastmont Church.
Events/Class Descriptions:
Eastmont offers two Learning Classes for seniors each Sunday morning.
The PaceSetters (less active seniors) meet at 10:30 a.m. in room FC-10 of the Family Center. Pastor Dick Perrin is their teacher and study topics center on bringing Biblical encouragement to every member. Each session is begun by singing familiar hymns and a time of prayer for the needs of the class.
The Junior/Seniors (more active retirees) meet at 10:30 a.m. in room FC-12 on the south side of the Family Center, with various mature Christians leading informative Bible studies and discussions and teaching from three to five weeks. This class offers prayer support, opportunity for spiritual growth as well as encouraging attendees to develop new relationships through outside activities including occasional potlucks after class.
Our PaceSetters enjoy a luncheon about every six to eight weeks to which all seniors are invited. The main dishes are catered so attendees are asked to bring either a salad or dessert. The programs often include well-loved sacred music and topics of real interest to our honored seniors. They also sponsor our annual picnic in late Spring, and event beloved by all.
Eastmont's Junior/Seniors plan at least four major outings per year for our active seniors. This has included cruises, train trips, concerts both local and in other cities, a baseball game and museum tour in Seattle, feasting at well known restaurants and the Annual Christmas Progressive Luncheon.
Other activities include Surprise Safaris (no one knows where we're going or what we plan to do when we get there!), monthly hikes in the Cascade Mountain chain from April through October, and cross country skiing. We also have sponsored an occasional Hymn Sing & Ice Cream Social for Eastmont and other interested churches on Sunday afternoons at 3:00.
Highlights of Areas of Ministry:
Eastmont seniors show they care for one another by regularly calling on those in the hospital or shut-ins. Often specific needs of the elderly are met by volunteers from our younger ranks. Also, many of our members are active in various service projects in Bend and throughout Central Oregon. Volunteers are always needed for various ministries and are treasured by all the Eastmont Family.

LIVING IN HOPE
…is the title of our PaceSetter Sunday School class study series already in progress. It explores Biblical truths that provide hope and encouragement for solving life’s problems. These facts are often demonstrated in God’s dealings with specific Biblical characters. Regardless of age, please feel free to join us at 10:30 a.m. in the northwest corner of the Family Center. God does provide answers!
